• Georganne Chapin of Hudson Health Plan Named to Editorial Advisory Board at Managed Care Magazine
  November 2, 2011: Georganne Chapin, President and CEO of Hudson Health Plan, has been named to the Editorial Advisory Board of Managed Care magazine, the leading monthly publication covering the managed care industry. Nationally known as a health care visionary and passionate advocate for health equity, health care reform, and bioethics, Ms. Chapin has grown Hudson from a small Medicaid Managed Care health plan to the No. 1 Medicaid health plan in New York State based on quality and performance data two years running. Hudson, a community-based not-for-profit organization, has designed and launched numerous innovative programs that bridge the gap between health care as it is and health care as it should be. • NYS Health Foundation: "Social Interest Solutions"
  September 2011: The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a game changer both in terms of the culture of enrollment in public and subsidized health insurance and in terms of the technical infrastructure that supports the enrollment process. Information Technology (IT) readiness plays a critically important role in establishing health insurance exchanges that provide a single point of entry to both public and subsidized private coverage. New York State’s IT systems must support Health Insurance Exchanges that connect all consumers to the appropriate coverage opportunities, but the existing systems are antiquated and unintegrated. To ensure that New York State is prepared to launch an Exchange and meet related ACA requirements by 2014, two national organizations, Social Interest Solutions and The Lewin Group, will conduct an eligibility and enrollment systems inventory, examining the State’s existing IT assets and deficiencies. • NYS Health Foundation: "Enroll NY Website Helps New Yorkers Find and Enroll in Health Insurance Plans"
  February 2011: To ease entry into insurance coverage for uninsured New Yorkers eligible for public insurance, Hudson Center for Health Equity & Quality (the Hudson Center) developed a Web-based, self-service insurance tool. The Hudson Center began using the tool in New York City and the lower Hudson Valley, and expanded the application for use statewide. By going online to EnrollNY.org, uninsured New Yorkers can learn about coverage options, determine their eligibility for public insurance, and begin the application process. The tool streamlines the largely on-paper enrollment process and paves the way, ultimately, for a paperless one. Download the PDF to read the full article.
• Healthcare IT News: "HMO Cuts Churn with Automation"
  December 31, 2009: Hudson Health Plan, a nonprofit HMO serving New York’s Hudson River Valley, has added more functionality and relaunched its Web site. It now enables easier access to public health options by utilizing the Facilitated Enrollment Electronic Application (FEEA), an eligibility screening and enrollment tool for three state-subsidized health insurance programs that was developed and launched by Hudson in 2000.
• Government Health IT: "N.Y. Insurance Enrollment Site Goes Statewide"
  May 19, 2009: A Web site that helps people apply for public health insurance programs is now available statewide in New York. The site, Enroll NY, rolled out late last year and was first available in New York City and the Hudson Valley region. In recent weeks, the system has opened to residents in the entire state.
