New York City Gives Green Light to Paperless Child Health Plus and Medicaid Applications. More

May 8, 2008 - Building Blocks for Universal Health Care in New York: Bridging Coverage Gaps with Information Technology

Providing coverage to all of the nearly 50 million people without health insurance in this country won’t be easy, but information technology solutions are available today to sign up several million of the people who are eligible for public health insurance and haven’t yet obtained that insurance. On May 8, policy makers, state officials, health plan executives and others gathered in New York City to hear about new ways to streamline enrollment and recertification in Medicaid, Child Health Plus and other public insurance programs.

They heard about solutions such as FEEA™ (Facilitated Enrollment Electronic Application) and One-e-App that are being implemented in New York and California respectively. They heard about tools to screen applicants for eligibility for a variety of public assistance programs in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. “There’s a phenomenal buzz in the room, and everyone’s very excited,” said Anne Marie Costello, Director, Bureau of NYC Compliance and Customer Service, NYS Department of Health.
